Modules & CEU’s

posted in: Hospice Care | 0

One of the goals of Hospice Aide Hub in-services is to increase the likelihood that each module would be accepted as 1.0 CEU for CNA’s by state licensing boards.? Since there is no national accrediting organization for nurse?s aide continuing education it is up to each state licensing board to decide.

In order to be an approved CE provider, for example in the state of Florida, courses would have to be taken and submitted to CE Broker online. ?Medicare requires that hospice aide in-services are supervised and evaluated by a registered nurse in each hospice or facility.? Hospice Aide Hub caters to hospice, LTC, and home health agencies providing CE during work hours.? Hospices/facilities must maintain documentation that standards are met, and surveyors may wish to examine the course content being provided to aides as well.

The level of content is based on nursing assistant program textbooks and other educational materials specific to nurse?s aides.? Each module meets the standards for 1.0 CEU:? Objectives and overview, a self-study section, references, group activities (discussion topics, case studies, or module extras for supplemental learning), a 10-question test (with answer key for instructors), a sign-in sheet, an evaluation form, and a certificate of attendance.? They are written by a registered nurse, have references within the last five years, and are approved by the Hospice Aide Hub Advisory Committee made up of hospice and education professionals.

Every effort has been made to meet/exceed continuing education standards, provide usable and relevant information to hospice aides, ensure regulatory compliance, and stay within a one-hour time frame (educators are encouraged to incorporate group exercises and module extras as desired for supplemental learning) to optimize 1.0 CEU acceptance from U. S. state boards. ?It is our recommendation that hospice aides keep a copy of the course certificates for their records in the event that they are audited. ?We are happy to provide course content for any state board that requests it.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated and suggestions are always welcome.? We have many courses planned, but if you are interested in a particular subject that is not under course listings please let us know.
